How to Talk to Your Spirit Guides

I have a very cool topic for you today: How to talk to your spirit guides.

I believe that we all have entities, guides, ancestors, angels, beings of light who support us, guide us and surround us.

It’s said that we each have an angel on either side of us, and we also have guides — maybe a spirit who has been with us in lifetimes before, an ancestor who can support us, someone we knew in our lifetime.

These beings of light are there to support, guide and protect us all the time. We always have a relationship with this beings, but it’s up to us to decide whether we want to have a dialogue with them and let their presence be known. We have free will when it comes to that.

It’s important to understand that, because a lot of people say, “I don’t hear my guides, I don’t know if they’re there, I don’t get support when I need it.” That is a reflection of disbelief and the active NOT allowing, which blocks the connection.

Your guides are always there. They are always supporting you. But they cannot come in unless you ask. They can’t come in without your free will — unless you’re in a life-threatening situation, in which case a guide can come in without you asking.

If this is something you’re into, I want to help you begin communicating with your own spirit guides. If you’re not into it, you can press pause and go to one of my other videos.

My hope is that if you’re here watching this video, it’s for a reason — likely your guide brought you here!

So, as a conduit for these entities, I want to give you a greater understanding of how you can have a relationship with them.

The first thing to know is that you need to have just a little faith that you have one or more guides who exist beyond your physical experience and who’s there to support you.

With that desire you can begin to ask for help. Asking from a place of allowing and acknowledgment. I like to ask by thanking them:

“Thank you, guides, of the highest truth and compassion, for showing me what I need to know. Thank you for leading me in the right direction. Thank you for helping me release this resentment. Thank you for helping me heal my physical body.”

You can thank them for whatever it is you need—you don’t have to follow those exact words. Nor do you have to call them guides! If you think of your guides as angels, you can say that.

Then I like to take that prayer and bring it into my meditation. I’ll sit in my meditation for as long as it takes to feel that presence. The way I feel the presence is that my hands will begin to tingle and I’ll feel a warmth throughout my body. I feel my breath relax and I become more at ease.

In that stillness, that place of receptivity, I’ll hear their guidance. Sometimes I hear it as an audible sound. Sometimes it’s a knowing. And sometimes it comes through when I’m writing in my journal and inspired words begin to flow.

If you’re new to this practice, writing is a fantastic way to connect. After your prayer and meditation, write at the top of the page: Thank you, guides of the highest truth and compassion, for showing me right I need to know.

Let your pen flow. Let whatever needs to come through, come through – ideas, stories, topics, inspired visions, things you may not have thought of on your own, will start to come through.

Another way to stay in touch with your guides is to ask for a sign. Say, “If I’m on the right track, show me…” and choose a sign. Don’t overthink it: Whatever pops into your head is right.

Asking the guides to show you a sign will be a clear moment of recognizing they’re with you and supporting you.

You might also notice that you can see evidence of your guides in your day-to-day life. I’ll often see their presence as little sparks of light, like tinsel in the sky. My Zen den in my office is filled with their presence — I have a friend whose young daughter likes to go up there because she says that’s where the fairies are.

Little kids are very much connected to their guides still because they haven’t created the barrier of disbelief that blocks them from that connection.

If you want to know the name of your guides (or one of your guides), you can sit in meditation and ask your guide’s name. The first name that comes to you IS THE NAME. Do not question it.

My guides revealed their names to me when I was in my early 20s. I’ve never questioned it. I’ve met with mediums who have said, “Your guide Peter is here,” and I already knew that — I’d known it for years.

Trusting your own psychic abilities and trusting in your relationship with your guides is extremely important.

If you want to deepen your relationship to your guides, I recommend reading my new book, The Universe Has Your Back. The book is all about strengthening your connection to the Universe, which includes all spiritual beings. The exercises and lessons in the book will greatly help you in this way.

I imagine this topic will bring up a lot of conversation in the comments, and I welcome all of it! Let me know what you hear, what your guides’ names may be.

If you have questions, let me know! I absolutely love and adore this topic and I want to help you create this relationship so you have a lifelong companion.

I hope this serves you.
