how to manifest a career

If you’re looking for manifesting tips for your career, you can be your own best teacher. What can you learn from your past experience? For me, I think back to a day decades ago, when I leaned a powerful lesson about business … and forgiveness.

I was the first one on the ski slopes. The powdery snow was glistening beneath my feet. In front of me, a perfect blue sky stretched over the snow-capped mountains.

It was gorgeous.

And I … was miserable

a miracle in a chairlift

I was in my early twenties at the time, working as a PR mogul in New York City. After a weekend ski trip out west, I’d gotten snowed in. My flight had been canceled, and I had no other choice …

I had to stay at the ski resort for an extra day.

42-year-old Gabby would be thrilled at this prospect! But in my 20s, I didn’t know what I know now. (Don’t worry — I’ll share what I know … keep reading for manifesting tips for your career!)

I thought that doing more, hustling harder, and saying yes to everything equaled more success. So as the chairlift rose over that majestic view, I was seriously sweating the fact that I couldn’t make it into the office that day.

I’d had a rocky past with my business partner. I was afraid of what she must be thinking. In my head, I could just picture her saying: “There goes Gabby, missing yet another meeting. Ugh! She’s so unreliable!”

And it wasn’t just my (imagined) business partner thinking those things. Within me, the voice of fear was whispering on loop: I’m so unreliable. I messed up again! No wonder my partner doesn’t trust me.

in stillness i receive

Now that I’m 16 years into my career as a spiritual teacher, I see that day for what it was. It was a divine chance to slow down, gain some perspective (the world looks different from a chairlift!), and give my brain some space to create.

In stillness I receive.

In stillness I receive!

As it turns out, that gorgeous ski day turned into a miracle. As I watched the snow glistening in the sun, my mind got still. And in that quiet, I could hear the voice of my spirit guide

“Pray for your business partner,” that voice said. “Ask for her to find happiness and success. Pray for her to have everything you’ve ever wanted for yourself.”

My first reaction was … what!?

This went against what my logical mind would have done. My partner and I had built up resentment for one another over the years, and we’d had awkward and difficult moments that still stung.

But somehow, I knew that my inner guide was right.

I closed my eyes and said a prayer for my partner on that mountain top. And from that day forward, the energy between us totally changed!

Looking back, I’m grateful for that partnership, and all its ebbs and flows. It was a profound learning opportunity, and a lesson that forgiveness works — not only in relationships, but in business!

  • The unconscious need that causes us to overwork and burn out (hint: it’s not actually the desire to achieve more …)

  • The ONE thing that you must do to bring more spirituality to your work (this applies to you no matter what you do!)

manifesting a spiritual career

In my new book Happy Days, I share more about my work as a spiritual entrepreneur. As I’ve healed and grown, so has the work that I do in the world. Over the years, my career has evolved to be gentler, more heartfelt, and even more impactful.

Before I learned the lessons that I share in today’s episode of the Dear Gabby podcast, I would overwork to the point of burnout.

a passage from my new book

I was also a workaholic. After getting sober, I embarked on a career as a motivational speaker and self- help author. My own spiritual devotion is what allowed me to teach from a place of authenticity and share vulnerably about my path. I became a raconteur, speaking to strangers about my journey of personal transformation. In fact, the more honest I was about my shortcomings—and no matter how ugly the truth—the more I could serve others because they could identify themselves in me.

My work was created out of inspired spiritual action and a commitment to serve. When I was working I felt Spirit move through me, I felt connected to a Higher Power, I felt in tune with the love I’d always longed for. Without realizing it though, my work became another way I tried to stay safe and run from feeling the impermissible. Despite the genuine love for my work and service-driven mission, my working style was another addictive form of seeking relief from my suffering.

I share my exact road to healing and transformation in Happy Days. The book’s subtitle is: The Guided Path from Trauma to Profound Freedom and Inner Peace … and that’s also the promise of the book.

No matter what you’re going through in life, you can find a greater peace than you’ve ever known.

And no matter what it is that you do in the world, you can infuse it with spirituality and light. The world needs that now.
