How many times have you held a desire close, only to hear that inner voice whisper, I don’t trust that this can actually happen? Maybe it’s about your health, a relationship or the state of the world right now.
When you don’t trust your manifestation is coming, it’s easy to stay stuck in control mode. I want to help you trade that anxiety for a deep sense of safety inside. By the end of this post you’ll have a practical five-step plan to move from fear into a state of grace, trust and knowing.
Why It’s So Hard to Believe What You Want Is on Its Way
You make the vision board. You write a clear list of what you want to manifest, and you get your manifestation statement just right. Then a voice in the back of your mind says, How the hell is this actually going to happen?
I see this lack of trust everywhere. It shows up in relationships, in careers, around money and around health. People tell me they don’t trust they can have the partner they want, the abundance they desire or the healing they need. When I’m teaching people, however big or small the issue they are facing, I always start in the same place. I ask, “Are you willing to heal the part of you that doesn’t trust?”
The Moment the Doubt Creeps In
I recently had lunch with my sister-in-law, who’s also one of my best friends in the world. We were sitting with our cappuccinos, talking about everything life brings, when she told me she had something serious to share. She said she didn’t know what her purpose was anymore.
She’d poured her energy into getting her boys off to college, and she’d lost her drive at work. I reminded her that she’d rocked parenthood, but I didn’t want to minimize what she was feeling. She was craving meaning beyond her kids.
So we dreamed big together. I asked her to picture her life after her youngest leaves for college: long walks with the dogs, time to work out, starting a consulting business doing only the work that lights her up. Her whole face changed, and she jumped in with details of her own, like a four-day week and more vacations with her husband.
Then, right at the peak of that energy, she looked at me and said, “Yeah, I do not trust that that can happen.” I watched her vibration drop in an instant.
I told her I had five steps to help her. I call them the Five Steps to Unshakable Faith. They’re practices from a new book I’m writing called Unshakeable Faith, and as I walked her through them, she felt energized and empowered again. If you’ve been asking yourself how to trust your manifestation is coming, these are the same steps I gave her.
The 5 Steps to Unshakable Faith
If you want a quick reference, here are the five steps:
- Say “I’m willing to heal.” Offer every area of disbelief up for healing.
- Give it away just for the day. Hand the issue over to the universe for 24 hours.
- Practice non-interference for three days. Do nothing and let the universe show you what to do.
- Listen for guidance. Use meditation to hear the next right action.
- Let grace set in. Live from the knowing that you’re going to be okay.
Step 1: Say “I’m Willing to Heal”
Take the area of your life where you feel most blocked and uncertain, and ask yourself, Am I willing to heal? Willingness is the mandatory first step on the path to trust.
Here’s how to practice it:
- Make a list. Write down every area where you lack trust, big or small. That might be the relationship that hasn’t come yet, the job you haven’t manifested, the amount you want in your bank account, the debt you want gone or the wish for the world to feel safer.
- Write the mantra next to each one. “I need trust in my relationships. I’m willing to heal.” “I want more faith in my career path. I’m willing to heal.”
- Use it all day. Each time you notice yourself in a loop of frustration or control, pause, witness the disbelief and say, “I’m willing to heal.”
I did this recently when my husband and I had a fight. We were right back in one of those relationship loops we all have. I wanted to stay angry and send him low vibes. I knew he’d feel that energy all day, so instead I said, “Okay, universe, I’m willing to heal.”
Less than ten minutes after I walked into my recording studio, he called to apologize and tell me he loved me. In 30 seconds the whole drama dissolved. I don’t believe that call would have happened if I’d held on to my anger, because he would have felt my resentment instead of my energetic shift.
That’s how fast this works. Saying “I’m willing to heal” unravels the fear and the story, and it opens an invisible door for the next right action to be revealed.
“Your willingness to heal opens the door for this beautiful unfolding to occur naturally.”
Step 2: Give It Away Just for the Day
Once you’ve offered your doubt up for healing, the next step is to stop holding on so tightly. The secret to receiving guidance is letting the issue go.
I call this the 24 hour spiritual pivot. You take the area you’ve asked to heal and you give it away, just for today. Here’s the prayer I use:
“Thank you, universe, for taking this from me for 24 hours.”
When I shared this with my sister-in-law, she said it felt so good. She didn’t need to know her purpose today. She could give it away for 24 hours.
Letting go for one day gives the universe space to show you what to do, and it gives you a sense of safety inside. If you’ve struggled with detaching from the outcome, starting with just one day makes it much more doable.
“Your miracle is on the other side of letting go.”
Step 3: Practice Non-Interference for Three Days
This step is the hardest, and it can feel counterintuitive. You’ve said you’re willing to heal and you’ve handed the issue over for the day. Now you practice non-interference, which means you do nothing for three days and let the universe show you what to do.
That means you sit on your hands and you don’t send the email or the text. You stay out of the way.
A friend of mine had been telling me for months that her long-term relationship had to end for the sake of her future. She felt so much guilt, because they were deeply invested in each other and had a dog together. She kept saying, “I just wish he would break up with me.”
So I gave her the practice. Keep repeating “I’m willing to heal.” Give it away for 24 hours with the prayer. Then do nothing for three days.
She called me on day four, freaking out. He’d phoned her and said, “I don’t know why, but I feel like I have to let this relationship go.”
He could do it because she let the energy off the hook and sent the signal that she was ready to release it. It worked out better than she could have planned. They’ve decided to co-parent their dog and stay friends, and they’re moving on as romantic partners.
Step 4: Listen for Guidance
Now it’s time to listen. Sometimes guidance comes as quickly as it did for my friend, and the whole thing is revealed on day four. Sometimes it takes longer, and that’s where meditation comes in.
Meditation grounds you in a sense of certainty that you don’t have to figure everything out.

Step 5: Let Grace Set In
The promise of living with faith is that one day you wake up and you know you’re going to be okay.
Fifteen years ago, I gave a talk in Melbourne, Australia. In the corner of the room was a young man in a wheelchair, and throughout that talk I felt my hand reaching toward him, sending him energy and love. Afterward his nurse told me he couldn’t speak but had followed my work for a long time. We’ve been pen pals ever since.
He relies on other people for nearly everything, and over the years he’s sent me messages of despair about how hard it is to live this way. Through isolation, loss and trauma, he’s kept practicing these spiritual tools one day at a time.
Recently he wrote to me on the anniversary of his disability. He said, “I’ve stopped fighting. I’m no longer trying to be or wish that I was someone else.” He described a wash of peace and said, “Finally, I know that I’m good, and I know that I’m going to be okay.”
He’s a hero to me, and his faith holds him through unimaginable circumstances. This is what it means to let grace set in. You stop fighting, and you know you’re supported.
“There is a timeline that’s better than your own, and you can relax and let grace settle in.”
Letting Go Doesn’t Mean You Stop Taking Action
Practicing these steps doesn’t mean you don’t also take action, but it does mean your actions will come from a place of knowing what to do, and sometimes the situation will resolve itself in front of you. This is how to trust your manifestation is coming without forcing it.
How to Feel Safe When the World Feels Uncertain
No matter what’s happening in the world or around you, there is a sense of safety you can access. There’s a spiritual faith you can be guided by, and a sense of knowing that you’re supported. If you keep practicing these steps, you can live with the same grace my friend in Melbourne is living with today.
“No matter what’s happening in the world, there is a sense of safety that you can access.”
