This week I got to spend time with some incredible women, including Marie Forleo, the Ladies Who Launch event, and my mentor and friend Marianne Williamson. I was surrounded by such fierceness, mentorship and guidance from these women.
Seek that guide, and don’t miss out on the miracles.
Having their love and guidance surrounding me is tremendous. I wouldn’t be able to do the work that I do without the inspiration of all of these women, mentors and guides in my life.
The importance of mentors
It got me thinking about how I found such great guidance and how you can too. In the video and blog below, I’m sharing 3 tips on how to find a mentor who honors the path they’ve created.
3 Tips to Finding a Mentor
Recognize your inner light in another being
You want to find people who have what you want, or walk the talk, so to speak. It’s important to recognize people who are living in their authentic power and living in a way that you believe in and love.
How do they go after their goals? How do they inspire you? Look for that spark within someone else, because the spark you see in them also lives inside of you. The more you believe in them, the more you will believe in you.
Be of service
The next thing is to find a way to be of service to these people. Before Marianne became my mentor, she was serving me in more ways than she could ever imagine. She helped me through drug addiction, love addiction, and overcoming fear in all areas of my life and she didn’t even know me. She was just being her authentic self and doing her work.
Find those people who have served you be just being. Offer your internship. Offer to help them with a promotion they’re working on or be of service in another way. They key is serving without the expectation of getting something in return.
Be of service because you love them, admire them, and believe that their existence has served you.
Power Posses
Another great resource is Herfuture.com. In particular, read the Power Posses These groups are filled with content of women talking, sharing advice, mentoring and guiding one another. Get engaged in the conversation, and you’ll find those women who can spark inspiration.
When you find those inspiring women that move you, reach out to them. Send a direct message such as, “Hey, can we get on a call?” Or, “Can we meet for a coffee?” Or, “If you’re not in my town, can we do a Skype meeting? Check in and ask each other for help. They’re there for a reason.
They’re there to serve you and they’re there to be served. If you don’t know exactly what you want in them yet, say a pray. Just pray, “I need a mentor right now.” When I was making changes in my life and I prayed for guidance.
