How to feel more supported

supportLast November I made a major statement to my friend Danielle Laporte. You see, D had just launched this awesome program called The Desire Map, designed to help folks identify their core desired feeling. So when she asked me how I wanted to feel, I immediately responded, “D, I want to feel supported.” This response totally took me by surprise. On the outside it seemed like I had a ton of support from my family, friends, fiance and partners. But some core feeling within me was longing for more.

Through a deep discussion with Danielle I came to realize that my desire to feel supported was stemming from my own lack of support toward myself. I threw the Universal mirror up in front of my face and recognized that I was causing my lack of support. The way we experience the world around us is a direct reflection of the world within us. If our thoughts and energy are not supporting our life, then our life will not feel supported. Therefore, we must take responsibility for our life by consciously supporting ourselves in every given moment.

In this video I offer tips on how to create more support in your life. The small right action that I suggest in the video can greatly enhance your life’s experience in an instant. Create more support in your life today.

  1. My boyfriend of nearly 2 years (and friend since I was 5), recently left me–like, one day just stopped talking to me. 2 days after, I stumbled upon your book “May Cause Miracles.” I’m elbow-deep in your writing and combining them with your vlog truly is creating miracles.

Everyone (friends, family, you name it) is telling me what I SHOULDN’T do now that I’m single. This video reminded me to ask for support–the support I can give myself and the support others can give me that is positive. It is reminding me not to focus on what I shouldn’t be doing but rather what my intuition is telling me and that in order to have it manifest itself all I have to do is ask.

You, my dear, are a rockstar–keep it up!

  2. Exactly what I experienced recently. It started with a major purge of what wasn’t working (ie. not supporting), in order for me to acknowledge, accept and embody a supportive relationship with myself. The external effects are constantly surprising me in eye-opening ways. It’s also been a great lesson in aligning my asking (both to Universe and those around me) with my core desired feelings. Thank you, Gabby!

  3. You are awesome. I have to work on this. I try to do everything myself when people actually want to help me. I am still trying to figure out where this “guilt” stems from. A lot of it has to do with the way I was raised. I was raised to be a one woman army because the world can often be cold and the more I know how to support myself the better I will fare. But, now I am 35 and tired. lol! I have made an effort to work on my “foolish pride.” But, your notion is even better. I feel more supported already. Give Thanks!

  4. hi gabby,
I’m on day 6 of MCM after the London workshop 🙂 and just wanted to thank you for being so generous and selfless and being you! thank you for generating peace and love and forgiveness here on this earth. -so much needed!- thank you for participating in connecting and loving. I am so grateful for ev´rything.

  5. Thank you sister for crawling up into my brain and giving it a well needed shake. I never, ever ask for support and the ego feeds on that .. loves to whisper “you have no support” when I’m most vulnerable. It’s not only time to ask for support but to allow others to support me. It’s time I stop thinking I need to do it all in order to be perceived as “Super Mama” .. done! The cape is being retired or at least having days off .. 🙂 XO

  6. Thank you, Gabby. This speaks so clearly to me right now. I want to feel “alive again”. I guess that would sound silly to everyone who knows me because I’m always smiling, but I want my passions to shine through me more vividly, in a way that only I would notice. I’m hoping the Universe hears me on this one. 🙂 All the best xo

  7. That was beautiful Gabrielle! Last year I was asking to feel more love – both more loving toward those around me and more loved. It’s amazing how setting that “feeling tone” of what you want makes all the difference in the world.

This year in addition to increasing the love I am focusing on using myself for a higher purposel. I signed up for Bschool this year and am working on developing my dream career – one that supports me and allows me to share all the beautiful gifts i have been given and lessons I have learned. Thank you for shining your light for me and inspiring me along my path.

  8. Hi Gabby,

Thanks a bunch for returning my attention to support. I can definitely use tons of it in my everyday life. I just sometimes forget that all i have to do is ask for support, align my thoughts with support and then sit back and wait for the miracle. 🙂

  9. Wow- this is right on. One of my blocks has been not wanting to ask support because I have thought if I was supporting myself sufficiently I wouldn’t need to ask for support (maybe not wanting to appear ‘weak’). However, I’m seeing how this call for support that I feel is really myself calling ME to be more clear about my needs and what feelings, while also harnessing the support of others.

Beautiful timing and insightful vlog Gabby.

  10. This was exactly what I needed to hear today. Being more supportive of myself is something that I am working on and it was good to hear that I can ask others to support me as well. Thank ya Gabby!

  11. I am a little confused when it comes to asking for things. Is it ok to say I want….. or does it have to be said in a different way. I vaguely remember the secret saying not to say I want because it leaves you wanting so I think that has hindered my asking for things lol

    1. My take Shari, is that it’s most important to get in touch with what you’re feeling in the moment and what you’re needing. Without that knowing, you may not know what to ask for.
When I feel confused I often say, “What if I did know?”

  12. Hey Gabby,

what struck me in this VLOG was just how simply you put it – just ask… as an entrepreneur, I am always struggling with how to get what I need to feel supported in my busines endeavours without having the budget to always pay for those things… Just ask… wow! totally eye opening. Goal this week – to do just that!!
Along with my gratitude journal!! 2013 is about shifts!!!
    love + light

  13. I really love this vlog, thanks for sharing it with us. I have been feeling unsupported lately in my health issues I am having. I know a key issue is not supporting myself. I’m in a hole because of not taking care of myself, I default to sugar and caffeine when I’m stressed. I was doing really well, lost 23 pounds last fall and have steadily gained it back over the past months from overwork, stress, leading to bad diet. I am just beating myself up inside about how stupid I am because I blew it and now I’m having health issues again that were all gone – adrenal fatigue, chest pain, asthma. I almost didn’t watch this one, I’m glad I did, I’m going to work hard on supporting myself now. I’m back on a plant based diet with no sugar, caffeine, oils, alcohol, but still lots of negative self talk. Anyway, I’m going to really support myself and stop beating myself up. Thanks again!

  14. Thank for this fantastic message! Lisa Marie Im where you are at! Wow spot on how I have been feeling this last few weeks and look what the universe delivered : ). You’re a wonderful person Gabby. Have a great week too. Im so grateful Rebecca xx

  15. Thank you Gabby for this supportive vlog! You reminded me of something very important – simply ask. I forget this in my day to day living. Thank you for the reminder!

    Keep up your excellent work.

  16. Hi gabby!

Thank you so much for this beautiful message! I was almost in tears right now because I’ve been in a funky place the last few weeks and yesterday I realized its because I felt like I wasn’t getting enough support from my family, for my career path, singing, romantic relationships, etc. and most of those feelings come from me not supporting myself and not letting others in my life know that I need that support. Your message had divine timing for me and I’m so grateful for all that I receive!

  17. Isn’t recognizing that the Universe supports you or asking support of it the same as recognizing God supports you no matter what and just being reminded of this? I am in no way getting religious up in here. I’ll leave the books for the scholars and preachers. I’m simply asking, isn’t it one and the same?
